  • Jan/Feb 2015- Provided technical assistance with Waynesville PD, Haywood County Sheriff and Maggie Valley PD on setting up their law enforcement naloxone programs.
  • Jan/Feb 2015- Provided technical assistance on naloxone legislation in South Carolina, Indiana, Arizona, Florida and Texas.
  • Early Feb 2015- NCHRC recorded its 300th overdose reversal.
  • NCHRC was featured on Georgia Public Radio on problems on 2/17/2015 discussing issues associated with the rising costs of naloxone.
  • Further developed NCHRC’s law enforcement harm reduction, overdose prevention and needlestick prevention champions.
  • NCHRC reversed its 350th Community based overdose on 2/26/2015
  • Successfully hosted a Summit on Heroin at the NC Legislature on 2/12/2015, featuring NC Republicans legislative leaders and 17 law enforcement agencies.
  • NCHRC reversed its 500th overdose in May 2015
  • NCHRC reversed its 600th overdose in June 2015
  • NCHRC is officially featured by the Bureau of Justice as the official “go to” agency on law enforcement naloxone program tracking
  • Introduction of NC HB 712 (Still going through the legislative process)
  • Passage of SB 154 (Signed into law)
  • Introduction of SB 377 (This is no longer a bill, but a discussion item as a funding provision in the state budget)
  • Introduction of HB 612, (NC’s first ban the box bill, the bill did not make crossover)
  • Provided Technical assistance to South Carolina, Nevada and Indiana on their naloxone successful legislation
  • NCHRC reversed its 700th overdose in July 2015
  • Successfully hosted the Southern Harm Reduction and Drug Policy Conference in June 2015
  • Successfully co-hosted NC’s Statewide Overdose Prevention Summit in July 2015
  • Worked with Fayetteville Police in setting up the framework to develop a LEAD program
  • Was invited to present at the FDA on national law enforcement naloxone programs.
  • NCHRC reversed its 900th overdose in August 2015
  • NCHRC reversed its 1000th overdose in September 2015
  • NCHRC successfully advocated for HB712 legislative passage.
  • NCHRC secured additional funding for rural overdose prevention efforts.
  • NCHRC secured key law enforcement endorsements on increasing syringe disposal efforts
  • NCHRC reversed its 1100th overdose in October 2015
  • NCHRC law enforcement materials were inserted into the Bureau of Justice toolkit on naloxone usage by law enforcement.
  • Legislative passage of HB712 in NC (Partial decriminalization of residue in syringes and biohazard collection).
  • Successfully advocated for naloxone funding to be put in the state budget.
  • October 2015,  NCHRC recorded its 1200th naloxone OD reversal.

  • Organized for law enforcement leaders from NC to testify in congress on the benefits of syringe exchange.

  • November 2015: Got S154 and H712 added to the Bureau of Justice’s Basic Law Enforcement Training
  • November 2015: NCHRC reversed its 1300th overdose in a community setting.
  • November 2015: Co-led webinar on syringe exchange with AAA+ and Chicago Recovery Alliance
  • December 2015: NCHRC reversed its 1500th OD on 12/4/2015
  • Full Year Stats
    • NCHRC engaged in 1179 outreach sessions, reaching 21,752 people.
    • NCHRC engaged in 153 harm reduction education events, reaching 7532 people.
    • NCHRC engaged in 85 HIV/HCV trainings, reaching 4384 people
    • NCHRC engaged in 200 overdose prevention trainings, reaching 8326 people.
    • NCHRC distributed 15,808 naloxone kits to 6371 people, leading to 1,547 overdose rescues.
