2016

  • NCHRC had its 2000th overdose reversal on 1/28/2016
  • NCHRC had its 2300th overdose reversal on 3/2/2016
  • NCHRC took Fayetteville PD and Cumberland County DA on a site visit to Santa Fe PD’s LEAD program on Feb 2016.
  • Helped the Board of Pharmacy post FAQs on naloxone, good sam laws and syringe sales
  • NCHRC had its 2500th overdose reversal in March 2016
  • NCHRC secured MCO funding from 3 networks to purchase naloxone ($100,000 from Smoky, $15,000 from Trillium, >$80,000 from the Alliance)
  • NCHRC worked to have information shared on law enforcement naloxone programs with the International Association of Chiefs of Police
  • Provided techinical assistance to Kenya, Vietnam, Columbia, Mexico and Myanmar on naloxone distribution.
  • Attended and presented at the Police Executive Research Forum on harm reduction
  • NCHRC hosted 3 LEAD focused law enforcement forums in Leland, Fayetteville and Raleigh
  • NCHRC hosted a law enforcement summit on responding to Heroin at the NC Legislature
  • NCHRC had its 3000th overdose reversal on May 2016
  • NCHRC legalized Syringe Exchange in June 2016
  • NCHRC was featured in the Guardian
  • NCHRC had its 3500th overdose reversal in July 2016
  • NCHRC assisted planet money produce a media piece on Heroin
  • NCHRC was invited to present at the NC Police Chief’s Conference in July 2016
  • NCHRC assisted NPR’s planet money on a media piece on Heroin
  • Assisted over 200 pharmacies in obtaining a standing order through our medical director, Dr. Logan Graddy.
  • NCHRC started several legal syringe exchanges in July 2016 in Wilmington and Greensboro
  • NCHRC had its 4000th overdose reversal in August 2016
  • NCHRC assisted Fayetteville PD launch the South’s first LEAD program in August 2016
  • NCHRC starting working with Wilmington PD (NC) on launching a LEAD program in August 2016
  • NCHRC’s naloxone program in Wilmington, NC had its 1000th overdose reversal in the city in August 2016
  • NC Governor Proclaims 8/31 International Overdose Awareness Day in NC  Link Here
  • NCHRC was featured in PERF’s new document on the opioid epedemic
  • In October, NCHRC reversed its 4,500 overdose
  • Hosted a legislative summit on responding to the opioid epidemic with Wilmington legislators and law enforcement in October 2016
  • NCHRC was featured on County Health Rankings & Roadmaps on its overdose prevention and naloxone work
  • ADAP Advocacy Association awarded NCHRC its award for the ADAP Grassroots Campaign of the Year in 2016 for its syringe exchange campaign.
  • Was featured by the Vera Institute in a policy brief on harm reduction and policing  LINK HERE 
    • NCHRC had its 5000 naloxone rescue in December 2016
    • Robert Childs awarded Rosomoff Award
    • NCHRC Started 12 syringe exchanges throughout the state
